The Machame Route, also known as the Whiskey Route, is one of the most scenic trails to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. This 6-day adventure takes you through lush rainforest, open moorland, dramatic alpine landscapes, and the spectacular Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres.
After registration at Machame Gate, begin trekking through the lush rainforest,
enjoying the rich vegetation and birdlife as you ascend toward your first campsite.

Continue through the heath and moorland zones, climbing toward the beautiful Shira Plateau.
Enjoy sweeping views of Kilimanjaro's volcanic landscapes.
Overnight: Shira Camp · Approx. 3,840 m
Trek across alpine terrain toward Lava Tower before descending into the scenic Barranco Valley. This challenging day helps
support acclimatization through the climb-high, sleep-low approach.
Overnight: Barranco Camp · Approx. 3,960 m
Climb the famous Barranco Wall and continue through valleys and ridges toward Karanga Camp.
After a break, proceed to Barafu Camp, your base for the summit attempt.

Begin the final ascent around midnight, passing Stella Point before reaching Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres.
Celebrate your achievement, then descend through alpine desert and moorland to Mweka Camp.
Overnight: Mweka Camp · Approx. 3,080 m
Descend through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you complete park formalities
and receive your summit certificate if successful. Transfer back to Arusha or Moshi.
